Job Description:

We invite applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Associate Professor of Security and Criminology Studies. This is a full-time faculty position within the Department of Sociology, Faculty of Managemnt and Social Sciences at our institution. We seek a distinguished scholar with a strong research and teaching background in security studies, criminology, law enforcement, counterterrorism, cybercrime, or related fields.

Key responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses in security and criminology studies.
  • Supervision of student research, including undergraduate projects, master’s theses, and doctoral dissertations.
  • Conducting and publishing high-quality research in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Developing and enhancing the curriculum in line with global trends and industry needs.
  • Securing external research funding and contributing to collaborative research initiatives.
  • Providing academic leadership and mentorship to junior faculty and students.
  • Participating in departmental and university-wide service activities.

Requirements:

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • A Ph.D. in Security Studies, Criminology, Criminal Justice, or a closely related field.
  • A minimum of five to seven years of teaching experience at the university level (For Reader and Snr Lecturer). 
  • A strong record of peer-reviewed publications and research in security and criminology-related fields.
  • Demonstrated ability to secure research funding and lead research projects.
  • Experience in developing academic programs and curricula.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and mentoring skills.
  • Professional experience in security, law enforcement, or related sectors is an advantage.

  1. ⁠Personal Research Statement
  2. ⁠⁠Teaching Philosophy Statement 
  3. ⁠⁠A 20 minutes lecture (PPT) on any course not below 300 Level in the CCMAS Curriculum for the programme 
  4. ⁠⁠Original Credentials
  5. ⁠⁠Synopsis of publications structured as follows:
    1. Citation in APA format
    2. Summary
    3. Contributions to knowledge
    4. Contributions to the SDGs
  6. All supporting documents for any claims on the CV including letter of last promotion.
