Job Description:

We invite applications from suitably qualified candidates for full-time teaching positions in Intelligence, Criminology and Security Studies within the Department of Sociology, Faculty of Management and Social Sciences at our institution. We are seeking distinguished scholars with strong teaching and research backgrounds as Lecturers I and II, as well as motivated young scholars as Assitant Lecturers in Security Studies, Criminology, Law Enforcement, Counterterrorism, Cybercrime, or related fields.

Key responsibilities (as relevant) include but not limited to:

  • Developing and enhancing the curriculum in line with global trends and industry needs.
  • Teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Intelligence, Criminology and Security Studies, and supervision of students' research.
  • Conducting and publishing high-quality research in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Securing external research funding and contributing to collaborative research initiatives.
  • Providing academic leadership and mentorship to junior faculty and students.
  • Participating in departmental and university-wide service activities.

Requirements:

Qualifications and Requirements:

Lecturer I & II

  • A Ph.D. in Security Studies, Criminology, Criminal Justice, or a closely related field.
  • A minimum of three to five years of teaching experience at the university level.
  • A strong record of peer-reviewed publications and research in security and criminology-related fields.
  • Demonstrated ability to secure research funding and lead research projects.
  • Experience in developing academic programs and curricula.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and mentoring skills.
  • Professional experience in security, law enforcement, or related sectors is an advantage.

Assistant Lecturer

  • An MSc in Security Studies, Criminology, Criminal Justice, or a closely related field. Pls note that applicants in an advanced stage of their Masters programme may be considered.
  • Prospect of research in security and criminology-related fields as demonstrated in their undergraduate and Masters Theses.
  • Professional experience in security, law enforcement, or related sectors will be an added advantage.
